Kelly Tompkins has made a life for herself in Houston and is hoping for a promotion at her job. Then she is called home to Glades County, Florida, and the home she was kicked out of so many years ago. Her grandfather has had a fall and a stroke, so she must take care of his ranch, which has been terribly neglected. She can’t do it alone, but Hank Judd, her neighbor and former lover, steps up to help.
Hank was the one who found Paul Tompkins. His family has been in a feud with the Tompkins family for generations, and the bitter breakup with Kelly did not help matters. But, as he helps Kelly work on the ranch in anticipation of a sale, he could use her help as well with his unhappy daughter, Noelle.
Leigh Duncan’s second title in the "Glades County Cowboys" series stands alone. Her characters bear painful scars from events both recent and further into the past. The novel setting of a Florida ranch adds interest, and Noelle is a well developed character who brings wonderful depth to the tale.

Emma Shane is tired of the stress and shouting in the kitchens of fancy New York restaurants. She wants more time with her young daughter and a more relaxed atmosphere.  When she is offered the job of cook on a Florida ranch, she jumps at the chance. Upon arrival, she discovers that the man who hired her has died. What can she do now?

Colt Judd is mourning his father, and he is worried that he can't handle following in his father's footsteps in the running of the ranch. The last thing he needs is an interloper in the kitchen, changing all the old traditions and messing up everything. Slowly he learns to work with her, at first for his mother's sake, but then he learns to like and even love Emma.

Leigh Duncan's latest has strong characterization and a vivid sense of place. Emma's young daughter is very well portrayed. Readers will enjoy their time at the Circle P.
