Beauty and the Brit
Rio Montoya endures a bleak existence on the mean streets of Minneapolis, fighting to keep her sister Bonnie away from gangs and worse while fearing that her brother Paul is a lost cause. One night she pulls Bonnie out of a car where a pimp awaits. She takes her into Crossroads Youth and Community Center with her brother in hot pursuit. There, she finds a man with a duke's accent and a protector’s instincts.
David Pitts Matherson is immediately taken with tough, street smart Rio. Soon, he is presented with an opportunity to get to know her better, albeit under difficult circumstances. Rio's home is burned to the ground, and a gangbanger's pursuit of her and Bonnie puts them in danger. He takes her to his home in Kennison Falls. Rio loves the stables but knows this is a temporary place for her to heal, not to fall in love.
Lizbeth Selvig presents her best book yet with this delightful tale. Her characters are flawed and don’t always make the right decisions, making for a rich, believable tale. This book is part of a series, but stands alone.
