Pam Binder is an award-winning Amazon, New York Times, and USA Today bestselling author. Pam loves Irish and Scottish myths, legends, and happily-ever-afters.

Pam, who is president of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, and a conference speaker, writes historical fiction, contemporary romance, regency, time travel, young adult and romantasy novels.

Do you have a new book or series?

Yes. FIRE WIZARD. Release day, December 8, 2025. Book one in the Dragon Curse Series

If you were transported to the setting of the book you're currently reading or writing, where would you be?

An enchanted kingdom, hidden in plain sight, in Puget Sound’s San Juan Islands.

How do you name your characters?

Each character’s name reflects a hidden power, weakness, or is named for a person in mythology.

What part of the book was the most fun to write?

When I created a world that is hidden in plain sight.

How much fun do you have coming up with names for your characters and how do you find them?

I spend months coming up with the right names and sometimes, as I flesh out the story, the names can change. They have to fit the character. I research legends, myths, and folklore. But the meaning behind the name is the most important. For example: My main character’s name is Rowan. It is of Scottish and Celtic origin. It is a sacred name and one of the qualities of the name is protector.

Where and when would you travel to if you were given a time machine?

Ireland in the sixteenth century, as the captain of a pirate ship.

What do you do when you can’t quite get into writing mode?

I research events around the time I’ve set my story. That gives me fresh ideas. And of course, there is always chocolate.

What traditions do you believe should be brought back?

The Regency and Victorian eras had Christmas seasons that lasted for weeks. I also like the Regency idea of a wedding breakfast.

What do you like to do when it’s time to kick back?

My husband would laugh at this question. Relaxing for me and kicking back, is writing, or reading with a cup of tea by my side. I also very much enjoy traveling and learning about people or places. That’s where I get the most amazing story ideas.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn to do?

Fly a plane.

Will you be attending any book signings or conventions?

I will be attending the BookLovers Convention in Las Vegas in March.
