AdC Spotlight with Ms. May Roz Lee

USA Today Best-Selling author Roz Lee is the author of over thirty romances. The first, The Lust Boat, was born of an idea acquired while on a Caribbean cruise with her family, and soon blossomed into a five-book series originally published by Red Sage. Following her love of baseball, Roz turned her attention to sexy athletes in tight pants, writing the critically acclaimed Mustangs Baseball series.

Roz has been married to her best friend, and high school sweetheart, for over four decades. They have two daughters and are the proud grandparents of three adorable grandkids. Roz and her husband live in the wilds of New Jersey with their Labrador Retriever, Bud which is code for Big Unruly Dog.

Even though Roz has lived on both coasts, her heart lies in between, in Texas. A Texan by birth, she can trace her family back to the Republic of Texas. With roots that deep, she says, “You can’t ever really leave.”

When Roz isn’t writing, she’s reading or traipsing around the country on one adventure or another. No trip is too small, no tourist trap too cheesy, and no road unworthy of travel.

Do you have a new book or series?

Nope. I am working on what I hope will be the first book in a very long series. Stay tuned for more details.

If you were transported to the setting of the book you're currently reading or writing, where would you be?

Ironically, the book I’m currently reading and the book I’m currently working on, both take place in Virginia. Pure coincidence that I’m moving to Virginia in a few weeks!

How do you name your characters?

Naming characters is a tricky business. Names can convey a lot of information about the character, so it’s important to get them right. I’ve been known to look through phone books from areas where my character might be from. Once I stole a name from a tombstone, and then there was Elgin Huddleston from Still Taking Chances. His name popped into my head while I was driving down the road. I had no idea where the name came from or who it belonged to. Months later, Elgin’s story popped into my head. He’s still one of my favorite characters.

What part of the book was the most fun to write?

Where and when would you travel to if you were given a time machine?

Nowhere. I’d be afraid I’d mess something up in the past, and then I wouldn’t exist in the future I came from. In the future, I’d be afraid I’d find out I’ve already messed something up in the present day. Did anyone follow that crazy train of thought?

What do you do when you can’t quite get into writing mode?

When the words don’t come, I craft. It’s still a creative endeavor, but I use my hands instead of my brain.

What do you like to do when it’s time to kick back?

When it's time to kick back, I read. Reading has always been my escape.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn to do?

I would love to learn to play an instrument, but alas, I have zero musical aptitude.

Will you be attending any book signings or conventions?

I have several book signings scheduled for this year. You can find them all listed on my website. www.RozLee.net
