Do you have a new book or series?
I have a new book coming out at the end of June, Dragon’s of Mu
Where did the idea for this story come from?
We were traveling back from a book event when I was looking in the clouds. I like to do that to see what kind of shapes they look like. For most of the trip, we saw dragon clouds and even one of the trees had grown around wires and looked like a dragon! Somebody was trying to tell me something.
Who’s your favorite character in your new book or series? Why?
I adore Lottie. She’s tough, feisty, and adventurous. Everything I am not.
Are there specific people or events that helped shape the story?
I enjoyed doing research on the mythical Island of Mu. It was fun and well, dragons!
Do you get inspiration from personal experience or just plain imagination?
A little bit of everything for me. Experience, imagination, and people watching.
Have you ever driven down a road or gone on vacation and thought, wow, this would make an awesome story?
Absolutely. Déjà Mew, The Guardian Awaits, The Wilderness Series, Dragons of Mu, The House on Cedar Ridge. Hmm, looks like a pattern.
Do you need silence or background noise when writing?
Silence. Absolute silence. I tend to become part of the story, and tend to see it happening in my head like a movie.
How do you stay motivated?
I don’t force myself to write. By doing that, it keeps the enjoyment and the words flowing.
Do you take time off once a book is sent to the editor, or do you move on to the next story?
Yes. Usually I’ll take a month or two. By doing that, I also get to focus on promoting the story and attending events.
It’s time to sit back and relax. What’s your go-to?
I’m a Disney girl! And if that’s not in the cards, it’s by the pool, fishing, or at the beach.
Will you be attending any book signings or conventions?
