Welcome to Linda Rice's Page

As a child, Linda was mesmerized by story tellers and her mother always made sure she had a supply of books close at hand while she was growing up. Sitting on her mother's lap and listening to her read to her is one of Linda's earliest memories. She remembers drawing pictures and making up stories to go with them. As she got older, her stories became longer and more fanciful. At age ten, she began to write them down, and when she was twelve, she wrote my first "book," all handwritten. She wrote during rainy days in gym class when they all had to stay in the locker room and sit on benches. She had a small cult following of friends who waited for her to finish each page which she would then pass down the row. When she got a typewriter for her thirteenth birthday, she typed up her "masterpiece" and put it in a 3-ring binder then hid it away. The story was actually quite silly. Having a typewriter, however, made it possible for her to write even more, which she did on almost a daily basis.

But, as happens to many young, aspiring writers, reality grabbed her and when she graduated from high school and headed to college then into the work force, the dream of becoming an author washed away. It wasn't until she turned 62 and experienced her 3rd job layoff, that she decided to try and make her writing dream come true.

Writing has become an addiction to her, and she's finding that ideas for other scenarios and characters keep flooding her brain, with the characters screaming, "Write about me! Write about me!"

And, that's what she intends to do.

Write a wish.
Put it in the jar.
Say the wish out loud.
Hide the jar in a secret place.
Your wish will come true at midnight.

27-year-old attorney Julia Lynton, fed up with uncouth and immature men, wants to meet a proper gentleman like the ones in her grandmother’s Regency romance novels. After discovering a mysterious jar in a secret compartment of an antique desk, she travels to Linwood Park in Surrey, England, to discover the jar’s origin. Shortly after arriving, she begins to have dreams of things that happened over 200 years in the past. Using the wishing jar, she travels back to 1815 Regency England, where she meets Matthew, the perfect gentleman of her dreams.

Viscount Matthew Linwood, trapped in an arranged betrothal to cold and haughty Miss Caroline Lambert by his Grandmother Linwood and Uncle Devon, meets Julia, and the two are instantly smitten with each other. But little does Matthew know that Devon is also enamored with Julia and is plotting with his grandmother to compromise her and force her into marriage.
Will Julia be able to stay in the past and find her happily ever after with Matthew, or will her remaining result only in heartbreak and disaster for them both?

This dark romance focuses on the subjects of obsession, abuse, and mental illness which may be uncomfortable for some readers. But the question is: How can a woman's obsession for a man allow her to accept his abuse and deny his mental instability to the point of putting her very life in danger?

Young and naïve, Brianna Campbell, has dreams of becoming a professional harpist and when she’s accepted by a prestigious music academy in Edinburgh, Scotland after high school graduation, she leaves the family farm in Ohio with high hopes.
Once there, however, she becomes the target of Malcolm McGarity, a famous rock musician who has returned to his hometown of Edinburgh, worn out and bored with his lifestyle, nights of partying and loose women. Once he sets his sights on the beautiful and innocent harp student, he determines to have her despite the warning of his longtime friend and fellow musician, Gerry Ferguson, to keep away.
Gerry, who had lesser success as a musician and who has left the music scene, works at the Academy where his sister, Fiona, is a student. It doesn’t take long before Gerry falls in love with Brianna and warns her away from his narcissistic friend, believing he will only destroy her as he has so many others.
Who will Brianna choose?
The wealthy, charming, and devastatingly attractive Malcolm, who woos her with red roses and fairytale promises…or kind and caring Gerry who has nothing more to offer her than his heart?

The Necklace Series (9 books)

What if you could travel back into the past to meet the man of your dreams at a time when it would be possible for him to fall in love with you?

Susan does just that when she meets two ladies from Haiti while on a cruise with her childhood friend, Lynn. Mika, the elderly of the two ladies, claims she can see into Susan’s soul and that if she sends her back in time to meet James, the man whom Susan has dreamed of for fifty years, Susan will learn something important about him and about herself.
Susan travels back to the year 1962 in her 17-year-old body, where she meets James, age 20, a member of a band that will one day become the greatest band of all time. Susan is stunned and delighted when James is instantly drawn to her, inviting her out for tea and offering to walk her back to her hotel after the band quits playing for the night.
But much to her dismay, Susan’s 17-year-old hormones begin to play havoc with her 62-year-old brain, tempting her towards a relationship with James that she’s not really certain she wants.

Will James end up being the paragon Susan’s always thought him to be? Or will she learn that sometimes, when a dream comes true, it’s not quite what you expected?

This book (and all books in “The Necklace” series) is dedicated to all those women whose teenage heart was stolen and captured by a rock star/musician and who have remained loyal through the years. May this fantasy story lighten your spirit, make you both laugh and cry and let you know that your dreams never need to die.
